The Day I found Tim Ferriss:

Tim Ferriss is a self admitted, “Hard to Find Guy”, but I am always up for a challenge. First rule I use in finding those hard to find people who can help you out is: Email every address you can find associating yourself with that person. Second rule: send something with the word “urgent”. Lastly, find something interesting to send the hard to find individual. For example, if there is a “how to: bestselling book on the best sellers list for over a year (Four Hour Work Week), do exactly what it says to do, videotape your experience, and send it to the author. Worked for me…who’s to say it won’t for you. The question is, then what…????
I am finding out that a lot of things, like sales, are indirect forms of advertising, networking, etc… Sending the video to Tim Ferriss and asking him for advice is better than telling people to buy the video. The advice that successful people can offer you on a personal level is often the best tool to get the end result. That brings me to the sponsorship.
The key to sponsorship is creating your story or cause. When I heard of Vibram Five Finger shoes (on his blog), I couldn’t believe how perfect the product was for traveling. I was so ecstatic that my first goal was to connect myself with them and sell them around the world. How foolish I was, and to Vibram. I later realized asking for a pair or two to go around the world and use of their logo, would possibly allow for other more lucrative means of revenue and donations to be discovered. Most sponsors only donate to athletes or celebrities, but if you align yourself with a charitable cause, you may be considered.
Contact=Sponsorship
It all started by trying to align myself with someone who has success in something I wanted to do.

Unbelievable what you can do through email contacts. I’ve subscribed to your blog and I think it’s great that you are donating to such an amazing cause.
The idea of associating yourself with a worthy cause to get sponsored by something that you enjoy is a great idea.
Thanks for the tips.
I appreciate the support Brad. I get great satification out of helping others and giving back. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Thanks for subscribing, the next post should give you a free airline ticket….stay tuned
Any templates of the letter/script you used to get sponsorship? I am teaching and learning dance and music in India with underprivileged youths and want to do it with corporate funding to raise awareness for the NGO and the school.
Tara-
Its funny you say that! I am currently working on an ebook based on sponsorship. Its aiding my travel now, for free…I expect to have it wrapped up in about a month or two. Should I email you?
