“I remember the call like it was yesterday. ‘Aaron, we need you to come back in and would like you to bring someone with you’-said the Doctor. After all, the tumor kept getting larger and I was still in denial. It was the words that challenged my life, it was the diagnosis that allowed me to provide new meaning to it.”-Aaron Carotta
There is a never ending battle with cancer.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, it became apparent that more and more people were in my shoes. There are multiple ways to earn a living, I spend most of my time doing it in an indirect fashion.
I have dedicated 3 solid months of sitting in a kayak, to help create the awareness for cancer. My efforts will be benefiting the National Cancer Survivor Day and The American Cancer Society. Creating a national campaign is what they know best and its one that I feel strongly about.
National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual celebration of life that is held throughout the United States, Canada, and other participating countries. Cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, friends, and healthcare professionals will unite in this symbolic event to show the world that having an active, productive life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. Omaha will join hundreds of communities worldwide in celebrating life as part of the 24th annual National Cancer Survivors Day. A “survivor” is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life, according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation. NCSD is a treasured annual celebration as well as a time to bring attention to the issues cancer survivors face. Major advances in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment have resulted in longer survival. However, a cancer diagnosis can leave a host of problems in its wake. As a supporter of this event, we are encouraging everyone to show his or her support for my community’s cancer survivors, their families, friends, and healthcare providers. By providing your support through monetary donations, you will become an important part of Omaha’s celebration of life on National Cancer Survivors Day. This day is a victorious milestone for cancer survivors. Thanks again for your support…
